Reduce Your Insurance Costs

  • Contact your insurance agent to discuss how you can reduce your costs.
  • Consider raising the deductible on collision and comprehensive auto insurance or, if you are driving an older car, you may not need it at all.
  • Shop around for the best rates.
  • You can be ‘over insured’. You may not need or already have appliance, car rental, trip cancellation or credit card insurance covered in your home and/or car policy. Read your policy -don’t pay twice!
  • If you have a whole life or universal life policy, think about converting to a term life policy. They have lower premiums and no cash value.
  • Do an insurance check-up to decide if you have enough insurance or if you need different coverage. Your insurance needs are apt to change over the years.
  • You may not need life insurance if you don’t have any dependents.
  • You may be eligible for auto insurance discounts if you complete a provincially-sponsored driver's education class.
  • If you install a security system in your home or car, you may be eligible for a discount on your insurance premium.
  • Purchasing your auto and home insurance from the same company may qualify you for a discount.
